Feeling Lost? Find Your Calling. Trust in God’s Plan.

Have you ever felt frustrated by the uncertainty of your true calling, despite sensing deep down that you have one? I know that feeling all too well, and it can indeed be overwhelming. Take heart—God is not the author of confusion, and He doesn’t want you to be burdened by this. In Jeremiah 1:5, He tells us, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” God intricately designed your life with purpose. You’re not here by accident; you are part of His divine plan.

To be predestined means to be called into Christ’s likeness. As Romans 8:29-30 tells us, “For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…and those He predestined, He also called.” God’s first call on your life is to have a relationship with Him through Jesus, just as Jesus had a personal relationship with His Father while He was on earth. This relationship requires faith, honor, and love before we take any action for God. The Bible teaches us that “faith without works is dead,” but the reverse is also true: works without faith bear no real fruit. It’s impossible to fulfill God’s purpose for your life if you don’t trust Him fully.

God’s calling isn’t about fulfilling our own desires—it’s about carrying out His will and serving others. Philippians 2:5-8 speaks to this: “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus, who…made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant.” Jesus humbled Himself, and we are called to do the same. Our calling is not about recognition, titles, or seeking glory from men; it’s about humble service.

Often, discovering God’s call means finding where the needs are and stepping up to fill those gaps. Personally, I felt a tug on my heart to share my faith journey and encourage others with the lessons I’ve learned throughout my walk with Jesus. This led me to write, not because I know the impact my words will have, but because I trust that God will use them to reach the right people.

Jesus warned us in John 16:33 that life will bring challenges, and following God’s calling is no exception. It requires faith, perseverance, and humility. But while the journey may be difficult, it’s incredibly rewarding. You may ask, “How do I discern my specific calling?” The answer is simple: Seek God. Go to the One who created you and knows the plans He has for your life. Spend time in prayer, study His word, and expect an answer—God will reveal your purpose in His perfect timing. God said in Jeremiah 33:3 to invoke him and he will answer us. He is willing to show you the greatest secret of your life: your destiny and how to get there. Do not hesitate, do not be afraid to call onto Him.

When God does answer, be ready to act. Don’t delay or shrink back in fear. Luke 16:10 reminds us, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” Be faithful in the small things, and in time, God will unveil the greater purpose He has in store for you. In the meantime, trust that wherever you are and whatever your hands find to do, the Lord is guiding you toward your destiny. It’s often in the doing that your true calling is revealed.
